Character Matters
Character matters! Well, it doesn’t seem to matter much today to the world, but it still matters to God. We need to both desire to be a person of character, and we need to personally strive toward that goal. The choices that you make often have an impact on more than just you. Even if the choice only affects you personally, we need to question whether or not the choice was pleasing to God.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. — John Wooden
Proverbs 19 gives us some insight into those who lack character and the end result is tragic. While you can push your way to the top in this world without character, this does not mean that you will have a fulfilling and satisfying life. Far from it. If you want to sleep well and night, guard your character. We all have an appointment with our Creator one day where we must give an account for our attitudes and our actions. That is a sobering thought!
