Romans 1:1–6
Give me a burden for the lost!
“This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures.
The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.
He is Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.
And you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ.” (Romans 1:1–6, NLT)
The Apostle Paul realized that he was on assignment to carry the urgent message of the Gospel to the Gentiles living in Rome. Therefore, he counted himself as a slave of Jesus Christ who was to serve his Master faithfully.

He was thankful to get to Rome, but he also knew that the message needed to get to the ends of the world. He had a burden and a passion to tell others what God had done for him, and then they could help spread the Gospel.
If you know Paul’s conversion story, you realize what an amazing story he had to share. God transformed him from a self-righteous murderer into a God-fearing disciple.
If Jesus Christ has saved you, you also have a story to tell. Maybe the life you lived was not as eventful as Paul’s, but there is only one story that can transform depraved hearts.
God became a man to die in our place, He was buried, and rose again on the third day. Salvation is complete in Him as we turn from our sin and trust in Him alone as our Savior.
May God give us a burden to tell others about Jesus Christ, the one and only Savior.
