Supplement Your Faith

Many health coaches will tell us that we need to be taking vitamin and mineral supplements each day because much of the food that we are eating lacks some of the essentials that we need. The Apostle Peter reminds me (2 Peter 1) that I need to supplement my faith. My faith is enough to bring me salvation, a relationship with God, and heaven when I die, but God wants more out of me. He wants to see me develop as a Christian. He wants me to keep adding godly virtues to my life. Yes, God is continuing to do a work in me, but the old adage, “Let go and let God” is nonsense. God wants me to work hard at developing virtue in my life. Sure He will help, but He will not work apart from my effort. Think about how many people you have known for a couple of decades that have not really changed some of the glaring holes in their character. You don’t want to be one of those people. We all need some self-awareness and look into the mirror of God’s Word and ask Him to show us where we need to change.
